IFW Blogging Contest - October 2013

THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED - THE RESULTS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON 30 OCTOBER, RIGHT HERE ON THIS BLOG. PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO STAY UPDATED!

Dear Writers,

It gives me great pleasure to host this blogging contest here on the IFW Blog. The idea has been brewing in my mind for quite some time and I believe now is the right time to execute it. Below are all the details you will need. I hope to see enthusiastic participation from the Indian Freelance Writers community.

Deadline for Submission: 5 October, 2013

Theme: My Writer Story

(This could be anything – your successes, your failures and what you learnt from them, what inspires you to write, how you earned your dream income, what you did right as a writer and what you did wrong, what you deem important as a writer, what prompted you to take up writing as a profession, interview with a successful writer that you admire (or even your story in the form of an interview!), what you like/do not like about being a writer etc.)

Here are some article ideas:

What every writer can learn from Warren Buffet?
How being a parent made me a better writer?
How I made Rs.XXXX in my first year as a writer?
6 Things I Love About Being A Writer
5 Challenges I Face Everyday As A Writer

Please note that these are only ideas - you have all the creative freedom to write what you want as long as it somehow connected with the theme. Articles that are rooted in personal experience and are likely to offer real value to readers will be highly preferred.

Tip: Please divide your post under subheads (like other posts on this blog) to make it interesting and more readable.

Submission Guidelines
1.      All entries must be emailed to shuch.singh@gmail.com on or before 5th October, 2013. Entries submitted after that will not be considered eligible for the competition.
2.      Entries must be typed on a Word document and submitted as an attachment. Please do not type/paste content in the body of the mail. The document should include your full name and a brief author bio, written in first or third person.
3.      Please mention “IFW Blogging Contest: Entry” in the subject line of your email.

4.      Only original, previously unpublished entries are eligible for submission. Plagiarized content will be rejected immediately.
5.      Entries should ideally between 500-750 words and no more than 1000 words. Please go through some of the articles on this blog to get an idea of the preferred format (interesting subheadings and numbered lists make the article more readable)
6.      Winners will be contacted individually and their names will be published on the blog as well as across social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn).
7.      Please include a brief author bio at the end of the article. Pictures are optional.
8.      Entries will be judged on the basis of relevance of content, level of research and quality of writing.
9.      By participating in the IFW Blogging Contest 2013, you are giving IFW the permission to publish your post on the IFW Blog (with your byline) even if it is not a winning entry. This however is not a commitment to publish your entry on the blog.
